3 Tips for Working With Your Elopement Photographer

Logan Clark April 22, 2024

If you’ve come to this blog, the excitement is growing for your special day. But also, perhaps, a small amount of anxiety; uncertainty of how you are going to accomplish all that needs to be done before the date. Maybe, more specifically, you simply do not know what to expect for your photography session that will help capture you and your partner in the most meaningful way. Well, hopefully, we can provide some relief from that anxiousness and give a clear guide towards a fruitful session.

1.       Schedule a Pre-Elopement Meeting

The best place to start planning for the session is to meet with your photographer beforehand, to clearly communicate your vision for the day. Collaboration is key to achieving that vision. A meeting can easily establish a sense of connection and build rapport with your photographer. By using this opportunity to discuss the timeline, locations, and any specific requirements you have, it will allow your photographer to plan accordingly and make certain that you are on the same page.

2.       Plan Adequate Time

Elopements are often more relaxed and intimate, but it is essential to allocate sufficient time for your photographer to capture all the special moments. Taking into account travel time between locations, ceremony duration, and any additional activities you have planned. By allowing for ample time, you ensure that your photographer can capture all the significant moments without feeling rushed. Creating that atmosphere of preparation can help ease your mind knowing that you have a plan to fall back on.

3.       Embrace Your Surroundings

Sometimes the most beautiful shots are the most natural ones. Posing can be very photogenic and work very well as a wall decoration. However, by letting your surroundings and your photographer influence some of the shots, you may be able to capture some of the most beautiful shots of your session. Whether it takes place out in beautiful nature or takes place in a burgeoning metropolis, taking advantage of your surroundings will produce an excellent final product.

In conclusion, the collaboration should be an overall enjoyable experience. Communicating your vision, taking time to plan, and by letting the session flow, will iron out most of the kinks in the line and ease the nerves of everyone involved. With these pointers in mind, you are well on your way to creating unforgettable memories through the lens of your elopement photographer. I hope this has added something to your day.

Warmest regards,

Logan Clark
